To get you started, let’s first go over the recipe for our infused vanilla ice cream mix.

Vanilla Ice Cream Mix

Get your liquor infused ice cream started with a vanilla ice cream base

homemade vanilla ice cream in a bowlOur ice cream mix is created specifically for infused ice cream.

To make our signature vanilla ice cream mix, you’ll first need to gather a few ingredients:

  • 1 ½  cups of whole milk
  • 1 ½ cups of heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla
  • ⅓ cup of sugar
  • 8 egg yolks

Using this recipe, you’ll be making about 2 quarts of vanilla ice cream. We use this vanilla ice cream recipe to create Tipsy Scoop because the high butterfat percentage can hold up to 5% ABV without sacrificing flavor or consistency.

First, you add the milk, heavy cream, and vanilla to a large saucepan. Next, heat the saucepan at a medium-high heat until bubbles begin to form. This process is called scalding. Then, add your egg yolk and sugar to a large bowl and whisk until your mixture turns a light yellow color. After your two mixtures are ready to go, combine the scalded milk and cream into the egg yolks while whisking. After thoroughly mixing, add the mixture back into your saucepan and set the heat on low to medium. Once the mixture is thick enough to easily coat your spatula, pour your custard into a heat-resistant container and let it cool for one hour.

Now that you’ve made your vanilla base for your liquor infused ice cream, it’s time to add alcohol and other ingredients to create exciting holiday flavors.

Santa's Cookies N’ Whisky

A pint of Tipsy Scoop's Santa's Cookies and Whiskey ice creamIndulge in your homemade whisky infused cookie ice cream flavor.

If you’re a fan of chocolate chip cookies or whisky, then this is the holiday recipe for you. Our Santa’s Cookies and whisky recipe is for all the adults who like a little buzz with their dessert. Here is what you’ll need to get started:

  • 6 cups of vanilla ice cream mix
  • 1 cup of Maker's Mark Bourbon Whisky
  • 1 ½ cup crumbled chocolate chip cookies (from home or the grocery store)

First, grab your large mixing bowl. In the mixing bowl, combine your vanilla ice cream mix and whisky. Next, cover your large mixing bowl in plastic wrap and place in the refrigerator for about 2 hours. Then, grab your ice cream maker to freeze the mixture. Once your ice cream has reached a custard-like consistency, it's time to mix in your cookie crumbles. After all of your ingredients are mixed together, place your ice cream in the freezer for at least 8 hours. Once the 8 hours is up, test your liquor infused ice cream to make sure it’s ready to serve.

Next up is one of our more refined recipes, a Candy Cane Vodka Martini. You can serve these at your next cocktail party or as a dessert after a holiday dinner with family. We’re sure no one will be able to turn down these deliciously sweet ice cream martinis! Here is what you’ll need for this Tipsy Scoop concoction:

  • 1 cup of vodka
  • 5 candy canes broken into 1’’ pieces
  • 5 candy canes crushed
  • 6 cups of vanilla ice cream mix
  • ¼ cup peppermint schnapps

To start your Candy Cane Vodka Martini, first infuse your vodka with the candy canes broken into 1’’ pieces. Start by placing your broken candy canes in a mason jar and pouring in the vodka. Leave the mason jar to sit for 24 hours so the candy cane flavor is completely infused. Then, combine your candy cane infused vodka with 6 cups of ice cream mix and stir well. Next, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for between 1 and 2 hours. After that, use your ice cream maker to freeze your liquor infused ice cream. Once your ice cream has reached an ideal consistency, move the ice cream to a large mixing bowl. In the mixing bowl combine the fully crushed candy canes. Finally, place your freezer safe bowl in your freezer for at least 8 hours. And there you go! You’ll have ready to serve Candy Cane Vodka Martinis for your next holiday party this year.
